an immediate opening for a Principal Systems Engineer in Livermore,
CA.Position OverviewAs a Principal Systems Engineer, you will lead
the design, implementation, and management of enterprise systems
and infrastructure, including Azure Cloud services. You will ensure
the scalability, stability, and security of these systems while
adhering to regulatory standards.Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable
and reliable Windows, Linux, and Azure Cloud systems.
- Provide architectural guidance and best practices for complex
enterprise environments.
- Manage and optimize Azure Cloud infrastructure, including
virtual machines, storage, networking, and security services.
- Ensure high availability and resilience of Azure workloads by
utilizing best practices such as scaling, redundancy, and
automation.Automation & Scripting:
- Automate system processes using C, PowerShell, and other
scripting languages.
- Leverage configuration management and automation tools to
streamline operations across both on-premise and cloud
environments.
- Design, implement, and manage VMware infrastructure.
- Ensure system performance, availability, and security within
virtualized environments.Disaster Recovery & Backup:
- Implement and manage disaster recovery solutions using Zerto,
Veeam, and Azure Site Recovery.
- Develop and maintain business continuity plans for both
on-premise and cloud-based systems.Network & Security:
- Configure and manage load balancers such as F5 and security
appliances like Bluecoat, Barracuda, and Azure Security
Center.
- Collaborate with network security teams to maintain secure and
compliant systems, both in data centers and the cloud.Monitoring &
Performance Optimization:
- Monitor infrastructure health and performance using tools such
as Splunk, SolarWinds, Dynatrace, and Azure Monitor.
- Conduct root-cause analysis for performance issues and
recommend corrective actions.Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure all systems and processes are compliant with industry
regulations and internal security standards.
- Stay updated on the latest compliance standards, including PCI,
SOX, and GDPR, particularly within cloud frameworks like
Azure.
- Monitor threat landscape and create a program to constantly
deploy security patches and updates as required.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including security,
network, cloud, and development teams.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and
operational teams.Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a
related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in systems engineering with
a focus on Windows, Linux, and Azure Cloud environments.
- Proven experience in highly regulated environments such as
banks, financial institutions, or government sectors.
- Expertise in VMware administration and virtualization.
- Strong experience managing and optimizing Azure Cloud
environments.
- Automation experience using C, PowerShell, or other scripting
languages.
- Hands-on experience with backup and recovery solutions like
Zerto, Veeam, and Azure Site Recovery.
- Proficiency in managing F5, Bluecoat, Barracuda, and Azure
Security Center.
- Solid experience with enterprise monitoring tools, including
Splunk, SolarWinds, Dynatrace, and Azure Monitor.
- In-depth knowledge of disaster recovery planning, high
availability, and business continuity.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and team leadership
skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure, VMware, Microsoft, Linux,
ITIL, CISSP) are a plus.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure (required) and
AWS or GCP (preferred).
- Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps principles.
- Previous experience managing multi-datacenter, hybrid cloud,
enterprise-scale environments.
